New York Times cites work by Prof. Douglas Charles

Pulitzer-prize winning New York Times journalist Matt Apuzzo, while researching an article about a Washingtonian working to preserve government documents on the history of federal anti-gay policies, consulted with Penn State Greater Allegheny history faculty member Dr. Douglas Charles.  Professor Charles is an FBI historian writing a book about the FBI's targeting of gays, and he has published two previous books on the FBI: "The FBI's Obscene File: J. Edgar Hoover and the Bureau's Crusade Against Smut," and "J. Edgar Hoover and the Anti-interventionists: FBI Political Surveillance and the Rise of the Domestic Security State."
