In 2007-2008, we decided to build upon the previous year's focus on India and explore and reflect on various aspects of South Asia's history, culture, and economic, social, and political reality. Course lectures, student research projects, public debates, service learning activities, theater productions, art exhibits, films and guest lectures will help us learn about this increasingly important area of the world.

U.S. Department of State (2007-05-17) defined South Asia as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. (2009 Update: The State Department has expanded this region into South and Central Asia: http://www.state.gov/p/sca/ci/index.htm).
