Congratulations! This is an exciting time for you as you prepare to come to Penn State Greater Allegheny. Your offer of admission is a big part of that journey, but your job isn't over. Now that you have your offer letter in hand, there are several steps you need to take, starting with accepting the offer.
Accept Your Offer
You can accept your offer of admission by logging onto your MyPennState account at mypennstate.psu.edu or by visiting campus and paying your acceptance fee at the Finance and Business office.
Acceptance fee: $230
Housing deposit: $100 and sign your housing contract. Note: The housing deposit is only for students who plan to live on campus.
Now what?
Once you've accepted your offer of admission, there are some other things you'll need to take care of before you begin classes at Penn State Greater Allegheny.
Attend an Accepted Student Program
You and your family are invited to attend one of our Accepted Student Programs this spring. The programs are designed to answer your questions and tell you what to expect now through the start of the fall semester.
Apply for financial aid
There's plenty of information in the financial aid section of this website on how to apply for and accept your financial aid award.
- To fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), go to studentaid.gov.
Apply for scholarships
You can find information on our scholarship pages.
Orientation
First-year students are required to participate in New Student Orientation (NSO), which will help you get ready to attend Penn State Greater Allegheny. You'll receive detailed information ahead of time, so check your email.
Submit immunization records
All incoming Penn State students must provide proof of immunizations prior to arrival on campus.
To submit: log in to myUHS using your Penn State access credentials, and upload image files of your official immunization records and, if applicable, any positive antibody titer blood test results. For questions or more information, visit studentaffairs.psu.edu/submit-immunizations
Submit required trainings
Prior to arriving on campus, the University requires all incoming first-year students to complete Penn State Safe & Aware, an online learning module about alcohol education and relationship and sexual violence awareness. The goal of this program is to help students make informed decisions as they transition to college life. Information about this program and access to the online training can be found at safeaware.psu.edu.
Set up payment
In early August, an electronic bill (eBill) will be emailed to your official University email account, if activated, with instructions to view and/or pay the bill via LionPATH. The payment options will be explained, and any awarded financial aid will show as “Estimated Financial Aid.”
Please note that no paper bills will be mailed.
Parents whose student gives them authorized payer access through LionPATH will receive a message that the bill is available. Students may give access to a parent or guardian at lionpath.psu.edu. Parents can log in to view the bill at public.lionpath.psu.edu. Signing your Financial Responsibility Statement must be done in order to finalize your course registration and ensure that your name appears on class rosters.
Update your calendar
First day of classes? Long weekends? Spring break? December-January holidays? Find out more about all important dates on the academic calendar.
Select a Meal Plan
Students may choose between three meal plan levels. When you purchase one of the meal plan levels, you are doing so for an entire semester. You may change the level of your plan in eLiving anytime during the semester until seven days prior to the last day of finals. Each time you visit a dining facility operated by Penn State Housing and Food Services, simply present your Penn State MobileID+ card to the cashier to pay.
If you plan to live on campus, the meal plan is a part of the Housing and Food Service Contract, and you do not need to submit a separate contract. If you live off campus, you can purchase a meal plan at eliving.psu.edu and charge it directly to your Bursar Account.
Buy your books
You can get your books and your Penn State spirit wear at the Penn State Greater Allegheny bookstore, located on the lower level of the Student Community Center.
Get iPad
In support of the project, all faculty, staff and students receive iPad® giving every member of our campus community access to a vast suite of digital tools which can be used to code, collaborate, solve problems, and communicate in creative ways.
Find our more information on our Digital Fluency Project.
Set Up MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
The new Microsoft Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is different from Duo, but its purpose and functionality remain the same. MFA is an extra layer of protection that makes it more difficult for someone else to log into your Penn State Account. By using MFA, you help protect your personal information, as well as sensitive and confidential Penn State resources and data.
Get your computer software
As a Penn State student, you're eligible for free and discounted computer software. To see what's available, visit www.it.psu.edu/software.
Send your final high school transcripts
Penn State requires students who have accepted their offer of admission to provide documentation showing their high school completion status. Once you have graduated from high school, be sure to submit your final high school transcript documentation that states the date of graduation.
